LifeCare’s Resource Center Wins Innovation Award

LifeCare received a Silver 2002 Connecticut Innovation Award for our Resource Center (launched earlier this year), a private and secure area of our web site that enables employees to confidentially access information and referrals online with speed and efficiency that are unprecedented in the industry. The Silver 2002 Connecticut Innovation Award was granted to LifeCare by the Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Partnership (CQIAP) in its 15th annual competition, promoting Connecticut organizations that excel in managing quality improvement for business success and growth. The Resource Center was among more than 100 applications from a diverse pool of organizations representing nearly 40 cities and towns throughout Connecticut. LifeCare will be listed in CQIAP’s 2002 Connecticut Best Practices Directory, and a prize plaque will be presented to the company at CQIAP’s Annual Conference on Quality and Innovation in October. The award qualifies LifeCare for the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, which annually recognizes companies for outstanding quality management systems.

“We’re honored to receive this state-wide recognition for our new Resource Center,” said Peter Burki, LifeCare co-founder and CEO. “It validates our determined efforts to use technology to provide our client employees with even more personalized services. And I’m pleased to report that we're getting rave reviews from people who use the Resource Center. To us, that’s the ultimate reward and the most accurate measure of success.”

In fact, on a weekly basis, 50 to 70 percent of all employee requests handled by LifeCare have been fulfilled through the Resource Center—and these numbers keep rising. In 2003, LifeCare estimates that well over 80 percent of all requests will be fulfilled through the Resource Center.
